Family Quality Time and How It Affects Us

On June 22, 2021, Fast and Furious 9 was released. The film is basically about a street race that brings the power of family in its narration. There are even a lot of memes on the internet about the plot itself where Dominic Toretto, the protagonist of Fast and Furious series played by Vin Diesel, and his team considers each other as family, talk about its importance and express willingness to take risks and make sacrifices to protect each other.

From that film, it makes me realize the importance of family. No matter what happens, there will be a family behind you. How bruised we are and how far we go, family is one of the places which will always welcome us back. I know the memes are funny, but still, it gives me a goosebump.

Family is the first stage in our life. It can be said that every aspect of our life started in the family. How a kid interacts with relationships, copes with events, and learns about living life is heavily influenced by the family in which they grow up. It’s only possible if we proactively be a part of the family. We can imagine if our own family, our first stage, is not safe. Then it will affect our next step in life.

Let me ask you, when was the last time you spent quality time with your family? Or when was the last time you spare your time to make a quality time with your family?

Sometimes, we are so busy that we forget about having quality time with our family. Your dad, mom, or siblings may be wondering about how you are right now. It is okay to be productive and busy, but remember to spare a couple of times to meet your family and spend quality time with them.

What is the significance of quality time with family? Let me explain it to you.

  1. Increasing family bonding

Spending time together as a family creates stronger emotional bonds. According to studies, families that participate in group activities together have a deeper emotional link and are better able to adjust to events as a family.

  1. Building self-esteem

Children who spend time with their parents doing activities together develop  high self-esteem. When children feel that they are valued by their parents, they feel more positive about themselves.

  1. Developing communication skill

Children observe their parents’ interactions with one another and with others to learn how to behave and communicate. Family bonding time is a great method to model desired behaviors, and spending time together as a family may help parents connect with their kids and communicate more effectively.

Family activities do not have to be costly things to be meaningful. The key thing is to spend time together. When it comes to the time we spend with our family, we often assume it is all about the quantity of time we spend with them, when in reality, it is about the quality of time we spend with them. We need to be more concerned with how we spend our time with family than with the number of hours we spend with them.

Now that you know why family time is important, why don’t you try to be like Dominic Toretto? Spending more time with your family can help you establish a strong family bond, and you will remain together through the good times as well as the bad.
